Jacksonville could be receiving a new resort

The Berkman Plaza II sold for around $4.75 million in July of 2017 after having sat unfinished since the year 2007. But, renderings have just been released by Mississippi based firm,  Barrington Development, and they have some major plans in the works for the building.

The plan is to turn the initially designed condominium building into a hotel and resort with 341 rooms, restaurants, family fun center with arcade games and indoor/outdoor amusement rides. Renderings show a ferris wheel, lazy river, water slide and ship docked next to a pier which appears to be a Naval ship.

According to Berkmann WJCT News, VP of Barrington Development, Cono Caranna, claims there will be over 200 games plus along with the rides and attractions.

Jacksonville is always in need of more hotels, but this could be the revitalization that downtown needs. There's no word on how much the development will actually cost, but there could be up to $36 Million in city incentives.

The building was initially slated to become condominiums, however the project stopped after a garage collapsed, resulting in a young man dying in 2007. The building has sat abandoned on Bay St. since then.
