Missouri interested in Former Gators Head Coach Jim McElwain

Florida v Arkansas

Florida v Arkansas

Former Florida coach Jim McElwain is a candidate to replace Barry Odom at Missouri and is currently “trending” in the Tigers coaching search.

McElwain is not the only candidate currently being evaluated by Missouri according to FootballScoop as Willie Fritz of Tulane, Skip Holtz of Louisiana Tech, Troy Calhoun of Air Force, Jeff Monken of Army and Will Healy of Charlotte are other names attached to the job.

Before being hired by Florida, McElwain served as offensive coordinator for Nick Saban at Alabama. Engineering the Crimson Tide’s offense to success led McElwain to his first head coaching job at Colorado State where he went 22-15 in three seasons. His success in Fort Collins landing him on the radar of the Gators and former AD Jeremy Foley.

During his tenure in Gainesville, McElwain went 19-8 in his first two seasons and surprisingly won the SEC East each season. In a wild turn, McElwain did not even finish out his third season in Gainesville following a 3-4 start which led to claims that death threats were made against him by fans.
