Dan Mullen Named National Coach of the Week

Florida head football coach Dan Mullen has been selected as The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week, the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl announced on Tuesday.

Mullen’s Gators beat Auburn, 24-13, this past Saturday.

“Coach Mullen has quickly restored the Florida program to national prominence,” Jim Terry, chairman of the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation said in a press release. “Coach Dodd would be proud of his ability to turn around the program in such a short amount of time, while also remaining committed to excellence in the classroom and the community.”

The Gators have now won each of the last five matchups between two top-10 teams in the Swamp, and have won eight of their last 10 games against top-10 teams at home. The win was also the program’s 10th consecutive victory, which is its longest winning streak since the school-record 22 consecutive victories between the 2008-2009 seasons. Florida’s current winning streak remains the longest active streak in the SEC.

The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week award honors a football coach who led his team to a significant victory during the previous week, while also embodying the award’s three pillars of scholarship, leadership and integrity.
