There were rumors that the University of Georgia was going after former Ohio State head coach Thad Matta to take over the program. Ultimately those talks fell through and Matta decided not to take the job. Left in the lurch, UGA is now reportedly looking at another high caliber head coach to fill their vacancy.
Crean has spent the last year as an analyst for ESPN following his firing from Indiana in March of 2017. Crean was the Hoosiers' head coach from 2008 to 2017, compiling a record of 166-135 with three Sweet Sixteen appearances. He reached the Final Four one time in his career as the Marquette head coach in the 2002-03 season, while Dwayne Wade attended the school.
