Thad Matta Turns Down Big Offer from UGA

Ohio State v Virginia

UPDATE -  Thad Matta has decided that he will keep his options open.  He is turning down the UGA offer.

Former Ohio State head coach Thad Matta has been connected to multiple jobs this off-season. One has apparently offered him a big contract.

According to Dawgnation

After spending a second straight day in Athens, Thad Matta is back home in Indianapolis contemplating a five-year contract offer from Georgia worth at least $15 million to become its next basketball coach. A decision could come as soon as later today.

Matta, the former Ohio State head coach, spent a second straight day in Athens on Tuesday, touring Stegeman Coliseum and other facilities. He was with his wife, Barbara, and the couple flew home to Indianapolis on Tuesday night.

According to the report, that figure would make Thad Matta the second-highest paid head coach in the conference. Only John Calipari makes more, based on 2017-18 figures.
